On Saturday, September 12, Canon Canada’s Image Wonderland is coming to Winnipeg for the very first time! Don’s Photo is teaming up with Canon Canada and Socality to bring the experience to Swish Studios for an afternoon of shooting, learning, trying out Canon gear, and connecting with Winnipeg’s creative community.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Image Wonderland is a hands-on Canon Creator Lab experience produced by Socality. Swish Studios will be transformed with two creative shooting sets featuring on-site talent: one designed for photography and stills, and another geared specifically toward video and filmmaking.

Throughout your session, you’ll be able to move between the sets, test out Canon cameras and lenses, learn from industry professionals, and connect with other photographers and creators from Winnipeg’s creative community.

STILLS TO MOTION WITH ERIC SHIOZAKI

Commercial filmmaker and creative director Eric Shiozaki will lead Stills to Motion: A Cinematic Workshop, an actionable look at making the leap from photography to filmmaking.

Eric will break down the technical differences between stills and video, what makes an image feel cinematic, and how photographers can start applying the skills they already have to motion.

Following the workshop, Eric will be available at the video set for a hands-on technical demo covering colour pipelines and CLog2 vs. CLog3, LUT application, autofocus and eye tracking for video, frame rates, open gate shooting, and more.

It’s also your chance to ask Eric your own video and filmmaking questions and see these techniques put into practice on set.

GET HANDS-ON WITH CANON

A selection of Canon mirrorless cameras and lenses will be available to try throughout the event, giving you the chance to put the gear to work right away with styled sets and talent.

Gear can be reserved in advance through your ticket confirmation email, with limited walk-up availability on the day of the event.

And once you’ve captured a shot you love, Canon will print and frame one of your favourite images on-site at no additional cost, so you can head home with something you created that day.
